Spring has sprung at Foylehov! 01/05/2013

Lambing season has begun at Foylehov’s home base, Carrowmena Farms, which have been in the Mark family for 5 generations. Foylehov - Ireland’s first purpose built hovercrafting track - started out in life as a farm diversification business in 2009, to sustain a living for future generations as income from traditional farming shrank.

With Foylehov, we set out to offer something different and exciting, which also harnessed the best of what we have to offer here at Carrowmena Farms: our farmland - set against the awe-inspiring back drop of Binevenagh Mountain, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty; the Lough Foyle shore location; our proximity to Limavady, Derry and the Causeway Coastl; and our love of adventure...

In addition to our hovercrafting track, the Foylehov range of outdoor adventure activities includes Powerturn buggyingtarget archery, laser clay pigeon shooting, and Max Combat simulation.   We’ve been delighted at how popular these activities have become but sheep and cattle farming is still a key part of what we do, particularly outside the busiest tourist seasons and at lambing time.

After the wettest year on record, we’re now seeing the new growth of grass and the annual cycle of new life on the farm, with the arrival of the first lambs. The warmer weather is now setting in – a great encouragement to get outdoors again.…

So pay a visit to Roe Valley. Get walking in the hills and forests of this fabulous landscape or along the shores of Lough Foyle. Try something different this spring – something adventurous!!!
